When Forest Organics owner Shane Mulholland began researching and foraging for herbs and roots as a natural means to treat cancer 10 years ago, he discovered a forest sprouting with fungi containing nutritional and medicinal value.  Forest Organics grows various gourmet mushrooms, such as Shiitake and Oyster, which they sell at local food co-ops in Ann Arbor and Lansing as well as the Pontiac Farmer’s Market.  In addition, the company offers mycological landscaping, turning existing organic material, like discarded logs or coffee grounds, into a mushroom garden.  Mulholland will teach a workshop, Recycling with Mushrooms,  on Saturday, July 31 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Attendees will learn about mushroom development and how to build their own mushroom garden.  $45. The class will be held at Matthaei Botanical Gardens, 1800 N. Dixboro Rd, Ann Arbor.  For more info, 734-635-8743/www.foragedandfoundorganics.com
