An exhibit of charity cookbooks demonstrating the empowerment of women. From publications by the WCTU, suffrage organizations and Women’s Exchanges across the country, women have rallied throughout the decades to raise funds for the works of their various organizations whether it be the right to vote, education for women or social issues. A highlight of the exhibition will be a lecture by its curator Jan Longone presented amid the artifacts at the Clements Library from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. Macioce works in a variety of styles, but this exhibition’s paintings are unique as they were inspired by his grandson, Noah. As a one-year old, Noah created many drawings of circles in various colors. Macioce was fascinated by them, and he decided to turn one of them into a painting. Cathy Barry received her MFA in 2004 from Eastern Michigan University. She
is currently part-time faculty at Washtenaw Community College and a Fine
Arts Instructor at Chelsea Center for the Arts. These paintings are the
result of an on-going exploration of the aerial perspective of diverse
landforms. Of primary concern are basic forms, shapes and patterns, which
repeat and overlap in images of Earth; spirals, grids, ellipses, spheres,
